Coaster 2 Coaster: The Mississippi Cocktail

Welcome to the third Coaster 2 Coaster cocktail!

Mississippi Mint Lemonade

Today, we're taking your tastebuds on a trip to the land of the "Mississippi" with the beautiful Laurel of The Hive

I was so honored when the adorable 5 O'Clock Fashionistas asked me to guest for them on the topic of cocktails! What a fun topic! I wanted to come up with something that felt well represented my home state of Mississippi so I got to thinking... Bourbon and mint are pretty quintessentially Southern if you ask me! And I've been on a real honey and lemon kick lately, so I decided to come up with something that incorporated all of those!

After a little trial and error, I landed on what I think is a pretty decent recipe!

It's a little sweet, a little sour, and definitely has a little edge with the bourbon. Perfect for a hot day, wether you're in the capital of Southern heat and humidity (read: Mississippi) or elsewhere!

Recipe:

10 to 12 mint leaves

juice from 1/2 lemon

2 tablespoons honey

2 oz. bourbon

crushed ice

Method
Put mint and lemon juice in a shaker and muddle the mint leaves in the lemon juice.

Add the honey, bourbon, and ice and shake.

Strain into a coupe glass, garnish with an extra mint sprig, and enjoy!
